powered by ODE.
This is a simple demo that use the ODE physique engine. I was always interested in creating a car simulation but never got enough courage to tackle the dynamic and collisions part. When I discovered ODE I found the opportunity to get that project realized.
Here is a first version of that project. It's nothing like a game but it's more like a test tech demo to see how to use ODE. It took me almost a month of work after work hour and when I got a little free time to arrive at that result. It's not great but I think it's a good start. I found really useful information in the ODE Wiki Area as well as the documentation and samples on the ODE website.
Here are a couple of screen shots from that first version:
Version 0.11 (4/11/2006):
The demo can be downloaded here: Subaru_Demo_v0.11.zip
Here are the key options:
- C: change camera angle (Around car, Free View, Free position look at car,
behind car, inside car).
- V: show collision volumes.
- M: turn on/off environment mapping (not real env map just a fake).
-W/S: forward/reverse.
-E/R: turn left/right.
-X: power break.
-Keyboard direction key or I/K/J/L: move the camera position in Free View mode.
- U/O: Strafe LEFT/RIGHT camera position in Free View mode.
-Q/A or LEFT/RIGHT mouse click: move camera position up/down.
-Mouse move: control camera view in Free View mode.
-SHIFT: old shift to move camera faster.
-SPACE bar: apply force to the car to raise and flip the car back on it's wheels.
- I: turn on/off infos.
- F1: switch to window/fullscreen mode.
- ESC: exit demo.
